MTV, short for Music Television, launched on August 1, 1981. It changed the music and entertainment industry by creating a channel just for music videos. The first words on MTV were, “Ladies and gentlemen, rock and roll,” and the first video shown was “Video Killed the Radio Star” by The Buggles.
